DECA stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America, this is a group that starts at a High school level and can carry over to the college level or “collegiate level.” This is a group of students that want to further their education and wish to strive to higher standards. People of all backgrounds join DECA and wish to participate in business related competitions, these competitions are held in almost every state in the U.S. as well as 3 other countries, China, Germany, Japan. High school and college students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service. The organization prepares leaders and entrepreneurs for careers and education in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and other business areas.Students join this group usually in high school not knowing what it is, or what you do. But they quickly catch on to what the organization is about and how to have success in this region. DECA is not only a way to participate in business competitions against thousands of others to see who is the best at their competition. But they also donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and MDA (Muscular dystrophy Assionation), they are proud sponsors of each and use the money from the National competition and take a big chunk and donate it directly to these groups to make sure these people affected by this disease will have a change to continue life and hopefully walk again. Students can use DECA to not only try to compete in business related competitions you can use it to learn leadership skills, or even just join to be in a school group or just to make new friends in high school. It is a great group to socialize in and to hangout learn leadership and managing skills to maybe one day own your own business and grow and expand. Over all DECA gives the student a different learning experience to help a younger student learn about how to have self confidence, and other useful skills like leadership.
